haha .. he says the same thing to Humphrey during the panel discussion. So do we understand Jesus better by nailing him to a historical context or by understanding the effects he had on his followers?

I started Hays lecture but too dry for me. I’ll have to overcome this manuscript-reading presentation. I’ll take his books over his presentations.

I was going to tell you that you needed to listen to Wright’s response to Hays at the end of Marianne Thompson’s talk, as well as the Friday night talk, before you jump on board with Hays here. But I didn’t want to sound like the Wrightian true believer that I apparently have become….
