Nestle Aland 28th Edition

The NA28 is poised to make its appearance! After 20+ years of NA27, the latest critical revision of the standard critical text is nearly upon us.

Here’s the blurb:

This is the twenty-eighth edition of the Nestle-Aland Novum Testamentum Graece (NA28). NA28 is the standard scholarly edition of the Greek New Testament used by scholars, Bible translators, professors, students, and pastors worldwide. Now NA28 has been revised and improved: Critical apparatus revised and easier to use. Papyrii 117-127 included for the first time. In-depth revision of the Catholic Epistles, with more than 30 changes to the upper text. Scripture references systematically reviewed for accuracy. The NA28 with Dictionary includes the Greek-English Dictionary of the New Testament prepared by Barclay M. Newman.

Now go get in line for your copy!

    Be still my fluttering heart…

I’m eagerly anticipating the remainder of the BHQ series. We’ll be ready for Biblia Hebraica Sexta of Deuteronomy by the time they finish BHQ.

    Great…more $ that I will be spending…

I’m echoing Stephen’s sentiment. Are there changes to the text, or only the apparatus? Also, who played Bruce Metzger’s role in the creation of this one (I expect a side book explaining the choices)?

    Bryce,

I imagine Michael Holmes and Bart Ehrman will be among the leading figures for this one.

Love the comment about the side book.

But wait a minute, since you’re against Biblical Studies, why do you care about the Greek text? ;)

Oh yeah – forgot about that. What I meant to say was: “Who cares? Jerome’s Latin Vulgate should be ‘ad fontes’ enough for all of us.”

        LOL!

Why not the KJV? If it was good enough for Jesus it should be good enough for us! ;)

How could I have forgotten? Thank you for noticing my error.

Off to handle some snakes to pay my penance…

I’d also like to know about any significant textual changes that may be coming. I did well to get through summer Greek in seminary, so I don’t expect I’ll be picking up NA28; but it would be nice to have a “heads up” about any really major new readings.
